LISBON BY THE WATER | PARQUE DAS NAÇÕES

Parque das Nações may well be the most child-friendly neighbourhood in Lisbon. Contemporary architecture fans will also get a nice fix here: it’s the youngest neighbourhood in Lisbon and was thoroughly planned. Those who like animals and nature will find the neighbourhood has many things that set him apart from the others: one third of the total area of Parque das Nações is made up of green areas, there’s the Oceanarium by the river and there are no hills so running and biking is a pleasure. It used to be an ugly industrial area removed from the city. Its name means “Nations Park” and there is a peculiar reason for this: the entire neighbourhood, along with a dedicated subway line and a new large public transportation terminal, was born out of an exhibition, albeit a World’s Fair.
