THE JOY OF SHOPPING
Back in the cold
Come October, the heat fades away and a much longed for freshness takes its place. In a setting bathed by the now cooler waters, new fresher garments make their appearance as the small pieces of a puzzle of endless possibilities for the new season.
Join us and dive into the new season looks.
A classic straight-line satin-textured dress is a must-have in the cold season closet. The one we've chosen has been renewed as a printed version. The bright green together with black and beige brings to mind the Northern Lights, this month’s highlight in the Nordic regions. Complete the look with patent square toe heels with multiple straps. Bam: an instant update to a look that never fails you.
Bam: an instant update to a look that never fails you.
A return to the cold doesn't have to mean a return to the same old formulas. Think ‘long waistcoat’, an item that is certain to stand out, and venture beyond the usual boundaries. Why not got for a knitted dress, covered in the warmth of mint green woven wool? And since we're playing with unexpected colours, think of a colour combination that suits you and don't compromise when it comes to shoes: we've picked a pair of strappy flat ballerinas.
Let's talk overcoats now. If you think that this garment in a strong colour can only mean black and white, here's one of the many possibilities for a colour which has once intimidated us too. The secret is to choose a contact or contrast point. Here we've chosen a point of contact: a classic satin shirt in bold colours matches the jacket perfectly. We chose to complete the look with trousers in the same colour range as the shirt, and track loafers in a shade close to the trousers. The shoes, the earrings, and a statement chain belt challenge this otherwise classic look.
However, if you still prefer an overcoat in a timeless colour, go for texture or singular details as you reach out to pick your new ally. Use it as a neutraliser for strong items, like this pleated knit skirt and the perkins collar pullover in shades of magenta. The formula here is contrast and experimenting is definitely the way to solve this puzzle.
Have fun!
But, as in everything else in life, there is always a third option - usually the one that tells you that, in reality, rules are meant to be broken. If the colours match, even though the textures don’t, there’s your green light!
A fringed cape is another key piece for unexpected winter looks. Don't underestimate it as something your granny would wear: update it with an oversized collared shirt and palazzo jeans, and finish off with a pair of white trainers.
The total look remains timeless as long as you know how to choose it. Such is the case with this knitted set in midnight blue, which vaguely resembles a jumpsuit. Besides comfortable, it can be accessorised in your favourite style to make it more casual or to turn it into an unexpected formula for a more sophisticated look.
A textured blazer with a Parisian feel can be extremely useful in the cold season. Give it an Asian touch with a midi-length satin pareo skirt. Complete it with a cashmere turtleneck in a colour that lights up the jacket and let it bear the weight of the whole structure by choosing delicate shoes.
Finally, the complete suit. Forget the black or grey options: sophistication lies in dark unconventional shades. Pair a dark green suit with a Perkins collar pullover in an uplifting colour and add to the light and casualness with the footwear. Complete with a shiny accessory, like this baby blue necklace.
