What is a Tote Bag?

Tote Bags are fabric bags created in England in the early 20th century.

This famous fabric bag has since then conquered all corners of the world and became one of the most practical and comfortable bags to use on a daily basis.

As from 2010, Tote Bags gained their space among the fashion accessories and are recognized  by renowned designer brands.

The Baguette concept was conceived to characterize a small narrow compact bag, carried on a short strap and can be adapted for different looks. It stood out in the 90s for being different from the most common large-sized handbags.

At the time, Fendi fashion house, not yet so famous, lent Baguettes as props for the very popular television series Sex and the City. In one of the episodes, when the character Carrie Bradshaw gets mugged and the robber asks for her bag she replies: It’s not a bag, it’s a Baguette”. We can say that the public figure, Sarah Jessica Parker and the character she played in the series were decisive for the handbag to become so successful. 

More than one thousand original creations of Baguettes have been designed and today it is one of the trendiest bags. They enhance any outfit.

A chic western touch?!

The predecessors of the Hobo Bag were born in the old American west and appeared in many films. At the end of the 19th century, migrant workers in America had to wander or travel long distances looking for work, carrying their belongings in a piece of cloth tied around a stick rested over their shoulders. In the 80s, inspired on this idea, the bags were named Hobo, which means tramp.

With a half moon shape, the Hobo bag is held at each end by a short strap that can be carried on the shoulder or hand. Its style is nonchalant, practical and chic, and it is generally characterized by being a large bag, which makes it perfect to carry everything we need comfortably.

Handbags are definitely one of the female passions! One often hears a friend saying “I love handbags”… or “I´ve got lots of handbags ”....
